New Publications from NOPP-Funded Tropical Cyclone Forecasting Research

The NOPP Office would like to once again congratulate Takemasa Miyoshi, Masaru Kunii, Eugenia Kalnay, and Hong Li on their two new publications resulting from NOPP-funded research on tropical cyclone forecasting and modeling!

The first publication is through Tellus, and is titled “Using AIRS retrievals in the WRF-LETKF system to improve regional numerical weather prediction.”  The citation for this article is as follows:

  • Miyoshi, T. and M. Kunii, 2012: Using AIRS retrievals in the WRF-LETKF system to improve regional numerical weather prediction. Tellus, 64A, 18408: doi:10.3403/tellusa.v64i0.18408.

The second publication is in Inverse Problems in Science and Engineering and is titled “Estimating and including observation error correlations in data assimilation.”  The citation for this article is as follows:

  • Miyoshi, T., E. Kalnay, and H. Li, 2012: Estimating and including observation error correlations in data assimilation. Inverse Problems in Science and Engineering: doi: 10.1080/174155977.2012.712527.

Congratulations again to Drs. Miyoshi, Kunii, Kalnay, and Li on their successful projects and most recent publications! This group has currently published 8 articles from this NOPP-funded research, and they have two more that have been accepted!  The NOPP Office is excited to continue to highlight the successes of this group and their research on this topic.
